A Blue Tooth Speaker With Charging Port Ripped Off Repaired
A friend of mine brought his blue speaker for repair and it was very clear that it has a charging issue since the charging port was missing.
When the customer brought in the speaker he told me that he hears rattling noise
coming from inside the speaker and I believe it was the charging port.
I could see clearly where the missing port was located but I was not happy to see that two main pads were ripped off the board and that is not a good sign.
It is a USB type C and I do not have any kind of replacement for such ports but I was so happy that the charging port rattling inside was in good condition so I was able to reuse it for this repair.
It was so easy to solder back the port on board but with the missing traces that was a completely a different task; the traces were so tiny to be seen with the naked eye;
but with the help of the microscope I was able to restore these traces and then add soldering mask on top for more wire isolation.
Once the traces were restored I added soldering mask on and then dried it with this ultra violet light; I was so happy with the outcome. Take a look.
I put everything back together and then tested the speaker and it was charging just fine.
For me that was a challenge but I was happy that it got fixed. This repair brought to my attention that USB type C charging ports are needed in the shop so I made an order and hopefully they will be in my shop soon ready to be used for another repair situation.
Mission Accomplished.

I read it was a Dutch politician who changed the type of usb charging port in the EU to the standardised usb-c charging ports for mobile phones and other portable electronic devices. This way making an end to the many different charging ports and adapters that existed.
Even Apple needed to change their old adapters to comply to the new now standardized port. Apple's hand was forced by the European Union, which passed a law in 2022 requiring phones, tablets, and cameras sold in the region to come equipped with a USB-C port by the end of 2024.
