JY6013 Auto Range Digital Capacitor Capacitance Tester

jy6013 auto range digital capacitance meter

While browsing the ebay website i found this unique capacitor tester. It was the JY6013 digital capacitance tester that is auto range. I’m using TES1500 Digital capacitance meter which is not auto range and every time when i want to test a capacitor i have to select the right range. With the Auto Range feature just like the Digital multimeter that have auto ranging, this can speed up or simplify the result. You do not need to select the capacitance range and just directly read the test result from the LCD. The capacitance range that it can test is quite wide. I’m not sure about the quality and if you already have one in your test bench i would like to hear from your review-thanks. Please click on the photo to check out the details.

I purchased one of those testers and received it last week.
To me it is good enough. I was able to test ceramic capacitors in pico farad range with it.
The 6pf capacitors reading was 17 or 18pf on different capacitors.
The 30pf capacitors were around 32 to 33pf
The electrolytic capacitors also tested good.
I test the same capacitor about 5 times and I get the same reading so it does not change reading like other testers. For me it is good enough to give me an idea of the condition of the capacitors.

    I forgot to include this:
With this tester you can test the electrolytic capacitors without setting the meter to (ZERO) and the reading will be good.
When testing ceramic capacitors in pico farad range, you must set the tester to (ZERO) first to get good readings. If you don't set the tester to ZERO, the reading will not be correct.

Sorry! I made a mistake in my first comment.
The 6pf ceramic capacitors readings were around 7 or 8pf on different capacitors
The 15pf capacitors read around 17 or 18pf on different capacitors
I think I am drinking too much coffee - not good for me

    Sir,
i have a question, is JY6013 and M6013 are different? because the model you refer is JY6013 but in the picture the model is M6013? and they have also different price, the JY6013 is $34 and the M6013 is $27. which is much better the JY6013 or M6013?
    Thank You.

      Hi Jerry,

Actually I have seen the marking as M6013 but all the ebay seller named it as JY6013. I just ordered one few days ago and hope to get it by this week. Do you have the link for the JY6013 and the M6013 pricing?

      Hi Jerry,

I believe is the same between the JY6013 and M6013. The difference in prices mainly because there are few sellers in ebay. I ordered the one also marked as M6013 but the order form was J6013.

This does not measure caps on circuit.

      Hi Jon,

It is to test cap off circuit.

I've owned one of these for about 2 years. I have fixed a couple dozen lcd monitors, several TVs and motherboards with it. It will test for bad caps in circuit as long as they are not banked together. I looked at building my own ESR meter but bought this one, it was cheaper and easier. I've been very happy with the meter. I did buy the tweezer type probes for it and that makes it a lot easier to test caps both in or out of circuit.

      Hi Frankcw,

Thanks for your sharing. But having an ESR meter would be an added advantage because many e-caps fail but the capacitance still check good.

I was mistaken when I wrote my review. I didn't have my meter in front of me, Mine IS an Esr meter in the exact case as this capacitance meter. My Esr meter has the charts on the front otherwise looks identical. My model is a MESR-100. I would Not use a capacitance meter to test caps in circuit but an ESR meter works fine testing them in circuit.
