LED T-Shirt Controller Repair

This repair is about an LED T-shirt controller. An acquaintance dropped off this T-shirt controller for repair.

First thing I noticed was the cable being broken. So I pulled the controller apart for further investigation.

So I flipped over the board.

I unsoldered the ribbon cable.

I cleaned the front side where the ribbon cable was.

I cut and resoldered the ribbon cable and applied some hot glue

At first I tried the new batteries and no LED came on so I resoldered some dry joints on the board and tested it again.

This time the Led came on so I plugged in the Led sign to see if it worked.

Yes it did. BTW: I had 2 of these to repair.

I noticed it was battery operated but still had a transformer on board. So I guess that it was only used here to create a higher voltage to supply the chain of leds of power. Also because it likely uses a power chassis jack to recharge the batteries, and the transformer was here not needed to stepdown any AC mains input voltage.
