LG DVD Player Shutdown Repaired
Customer sent to me this LG DVD Player with the complaint of switched On can see only part of the Hello (HE) and few seconds later shutdown. Generally when you see this kind of fault, you may be thinking is the mainboard fault (it could be corrupted Flash Rom).
The moment after opening up the cover, I saw a bulged e-cap in the power supply secondary section. This proofed that visual inspection is very important before you start to perform the troubleshooting work.
I continued to scan for bad components but all other components seems to be in good shape. I believed the DVD player shutdown problem was solely the bad capacitor only.
The value was 2200uf 10 volt and since I do not have the part at that moment, so I used 2200uf 16 volt as replacement.
Turning On the DVD player with the word DVD/CD and timer appeared gave me a relief. This indicates that the DVD player is ready to accept a CD to play
Conclusion- This is a simple repair work in which many beginners can solve this kind of problem. If you wish to learn more deeper about DVD Player troubleshooting and repair you can check out on Humphreys’ ebook here. Once again, I will see you in the next repair article.

Yes, this is the way how many TVs and Monitors are often easily fixed when they suffer from nasty bulged e-caps too.
