Mobile Charger Repaired
My daughter’s friend once visited our home & she asked for mobile charger from my daughter, my daughter jokingly asked her …. why don’t you carry yours? …She told my daughter that she is having one & trying since morning but cable is not fit inside the socket & she showed to my daughter.
During conversation my daughter told her let me show this adapter to my dad he will fix it! …I was doing some of my work in the other room and I could hear their words too. She brought the charger to show me.
By seeing the USB socket, I told her USB socket seems broken from inside. This adapter is still under warranty but it was physically damaged & will not cover warranty from the manufacturer.
She told me if I can try………….
I opened the adapter to inspect from inside.
I found USB Socket front body pins are coming out of the solder but another side all pins are intact on PCB.
On above photo from solder side you cannot recognize that the socket is out of the solder because body pin of socket is not reaching up to the pad which can hold the socket firmly.
You can see the thickness of the PCB in the photo….
Here I missed to take photo of the Main Process…. Just explaining here by drawing.
Inserted Extra hard Copper wire to give support to Body Pins when we solder it again. After finishing work checked for voltage o/p ..i am getting 5V DC across pin no. 1 & 4 middle two pins are not used in any charger adapter.
This repair is hardly 15 minutes job…..
Now adapter is back to the work……
Handed over the adapter to my daughter & both were very Happy.

Excellent photos that almost make it easy to reverse engineer a second working USB charger! Or to be able to define what active parts were used although the correct marking on the active SOP7 controller still couldn't be determined from the solder side photo.
Thanks for sharing!

Good job, Yogesh. Although I agree with Parasuraman concerning the excellent drawing (very didactic, of course), the pictures taken are very good. It is not common to see good quality in pictures taken at close distance, generally by the difficulty of phocus.
