NCP1203P60 Datasheet

By on March 30, 2012

Could NCP1203P60 datasheet  different from 1203p60 datasheet pdf ? The reason I ask this question was because a Benq 19” LCD Monitor came in for repair have an unstable output power problem. With the mainboard connected the output voltages went up and down but when the mainboard was disconnected it worked perfectly good. I have found the problem and it was the power/inverter board.  This board is using the 1203p60 power IC without the NCP words in front.

ncp1203p60 datasheetSince I have three new NCP1203P60 IC, after fixing the IC there was no power at all. I installed an IC socket to test on the other new ICs and the result was the same –totally no power. The reason I install the IC socket so that the circuit track will not break from excessive soldering and desoldering of the ICs being tested. When I put back the original IC, the power came back! I was floored by this test result. It is either both the ICs are not compatible or the ICs that I bought have problem.  But then again, if you tell me that one if one IC have problem then it is acceptable, in this case 3 new ICs would not function!

ncp1203p60 crossreferenceIf you search the NCP1203P60 datasheet or the application notes and 1203p60 datasheet from the internet you will get the same datasheet from ON semiconductor.  Have you ever came across that the NCP1203P60 cross reference is different from 1203p60 IC? If yes please do let me know-thanks. By the way, yesterday I went online to buy 1203p60 IC and I did not buy NCP1203P60 because I want to test it out first. Once I got this IC I will test it out and let you know the outcome. Expected IC arrival will be next week.

      HI Galib,

I will find out when I got the new batch of IC. By right the NCP1203P60 and the 1203P60 should be the same. By the way you have a very cool photo!

    HI JESTINE

is there any way to test all those three ic somewhere out side the circuit
and/or inside circuite of another healthy set ? to be sure that all those three are really ok?or not?

      HI Beh,

The best way to test it is when I got the new batch of IC.

Hi if the datasheet state the same information then it could mean that you bought an immitated part i will sugest you buy from a different shop. have a blessed easter

      HI Alfred,

Yes the only way to find out is to buy from another supplier and retest.

There have been problems with some suppliers here on different components, like capacitors that are leaky, solid state semiconductors defective.
Another supplier woud be a very good idea.

      Hi Bradley,

That is why sometime I do check on the new components first before installation.

And the same monitor (benq) and power board. With "new" IC`s R603 was in smoke. I installed 1203P60 in SMD-case, marked as "203D6" and monitor started to work as expected. This new IC`s is defect or relabeled!

Hi Mr. Yong! I had the same problem like Dimon. It happened when I replaced an 1203P60 for an NCP1203P60. I beging to believe that both IC's are not really similar.

      HI Jayesh,

I do not have this monitor with me thus I would not know what will be the value. I suggest that you look for the schematic from the internet. From ic datasheet it seems that the value is more than 4.7 k Ohm
