No Power On In VINVERTH DVD Player MODEL VGDP 0505 Solved
This DVD Player was brought by a regular customer and was reported to be dead. This was used interconnected to Public Address System, in their hall meant for public meetings. In order to open this DVD player, we need to pry open the four seating rubbers and unscrew the hidden screws, apart from removing the hold from the rear. Then we need to gently pry open from all sides. But however careful we are, some plastic locks might break and there was no exception in this case too.
I removed the power supply unit, discharged the tank capacitor and checked the SMPS transformer using the Ring Tester. It was found ok. Looked for any defective components in the primary or secondary area and did not find any. But, the ESRs of caps and values were way out. I enjoyed replacing all the caps and retouched the board very well. Brushed and cleaned the board thoroughly using IPA.
The control buttons were also replaced, as they were not making proper contacts. The remote was misplaced by customer and therefore this was important.
Then played my favorite DVD, a type of percussion video and found the output to be damn good:
As the interconnecting cable was spoiled beyond restoration, bought a new one after obtaining consent of customer.
Played around three DVD/CDs fully to ensure that there were no problems like slipping or skipping, after which I closed the cover and kept it ready for delivery to customer. Mission accomplished gathering satisfaction to its collection.
