Noisy Pots Replaced In AHUJA Public Address System Model SSB-60M
This public address system was brought to me with the complaint that there was scratchy noise while turning the potentiometers. On checking, I noticed that all pots had the problems and a couple of them lost contact at a few places. I did a cleanup with CRC2-26 spray and turned the pots left and right rapidly, which in normal circumstances would clean up the dirty contacts.
But no amount of cleaning worked, indicating that the tracks were really ruined. I ordered for the pots as I was not having the knurly metal shaft pots of same value in my stock.
I replaced all the pots after receiving the replacements
and tested the Amp and found it be working very well!
After satisfying that the Amp was working very well on prolonged testing, using various mic and aux inputs, the amp was kept ready for delivery to customer.
Mission accomplished and satisfaction got added to the collections!

Quick and clean repair job without having to replace a single ecap (lol)!
Noisy pots probably no longer happen when digital pots are common goods!

VERY STRANGE!
All the pots were defective and irreparable???
Usually the pot which is used the most fails first.
But even the seldomly used knobs were inoperable?
What could be a reason for this Parasuraman?

This amplifier is kept for public use in an auditorium and generally, the team who hired it operates the amplifier, as a result of which, the controls become easily defective due to mishandling. I replaced all the controls, though a couple of them were ok after cleaning, in order to prevent failure in the near future. I do not like to receive a set for repair again and again. Many thanks for your comments and concern!

Try cleaning with Transformer oil (used in large power transformers installed in industries or on road sides by Electricity Department). Even used oil will do. If pots are stored for a long time, it tends to collect fine dust. I buy majority of components in India from https://projectpoint.in/ You should also remember to replace a logarithmic POT with similar one and a Linear one with its equivalent. That is important.
Many thanks for your comments and feedback!
