Pentium 4 PC Repaired (Part 1)
This HP COMPAQ d530 CMT was brought to me by a co-worker because it was freezing constantly, the PC has to be restarted continuously and it was impossible to work in these conditions. First thing done was to take out the lateral cover and look what I saw.
The retention hook was out of the retention hole, so when the heat-sink and the fan were extracted to re-connect them correctly, guess what?
In the diagonal, the retention hole was broken and I had no spare part to substitute it. So hands to the work, as we usually say in my country.
I had to get a thin sheet of aluminum to begin with the job of this story.
With a cut-plier the job had just begun.
Once the hole was opened it was necessary to probe how it fitted in the base.
So far so good. The other step was to open the retention hole.
Well, till now this story has been a rather long and I do not want it becomes bored, so see you in the second part of this story. Ta ta for now.
