Philips BT50 Repaired for no Power

Received Bluetooth speaker for not working problem. Checked applying power I found charging LED was blinking but no other working symptom.

In Bluetooth Speakers 75% problems are with rechargeable Li-Ion Batteries.

So now it is time to inspect from inside. Speaker having 4 screws under the bottom rubber pads. Try to remove rubber but it used to burst, so I just made hole on the screw location & removed screws.

Here my first attempt is to check battery working.

Checked battery, it was showing 3.2v it was in working range.

I inspected the PCB for any damage, I found one micro switch was broken.

broken switch

This micro switch is for Bluetooth Paring. I removed the switch & again turned ON the speaker but it shows same symptom. Now time to check slider switch which involved in Select Aux & Bluetooth. Before testing with Multimeter I put some drops of kerosene into the switch for cleaning.

After applying kerosene, I slide the switch few times then connected the battery to the circuit & slide the switch on aux mode & white light is glowing & by Sliding switch to the Bluetooth mode it is showing Blue light, which indicates ready to pair with another device.

Now respected lights are continuous working. Hence I took my mobile & searched for BT. I found device Philips BT50 & just touched on pair & my mobile is got connected to the device. (It directly paired without need of pairing button on the Speaker).

Now I played Music & it works perfectly, so here culprit is Slider switch just cleaned & done. (Sometimes problems are not as complicated as we think, applicable to journey of life also).

Asked customer is he use this Pairing switch, he told me he was using only on his mobile so it was ok if it is not there. So after confirming I removed the broken switch and by the way I didn’t have it in stock either.

After final work I reassembled the unit.
