Protronics Portable Bluetooth Speakers Repaired
Received Bluetooth speaker for repair stating problem sound quality is not as good as earlier and making some vibrating Noise when sound level is high.
For testing I have turned on the speaker and found low sound with distorted vibration noise. For further diagnosis I opened the unit.
For opening you have to pull up the metal meshing using some strong pointed needle type pry tool by corner of the upper frame. After removing the mesh you can find location of the screw.
Be very careful for opening procedure because you never know how things fitted inside.
After opening I started visual inspection here what I found. Red wire of left side speaker is found desoldered. So I have soldered it back to its place.
I think this is the cause for the problem but for further diagnosis I did not powered the unit because when we open the unit we have to finish some maintenance work also. Therefore I removed the main PCB & Control PCB for inspection and cleaning.
Visual inspection I did not found any more physical damage on the PCB so I cleaned the PCB with the IPA.
Now time for the control PCB ……as control PCB is having switches so cleaning is necessary.
Cleaned the PCB with IPA. One more thing I found that speakers are not having proper screw system for fitting and it was fixed with hot glue which was out. (Though Build quality of the Unit is very good). This may cause for vibration on high volume.
Applied fresh Hot Glue on corner of speaker metal part to Plastic Frame. Be careful while applying glue if it go inside the paper cone of the speaker you will spoile the speaker & Do Not use any epoxy or superglue or when you need to remove the speaker for any reason may speaker or plastic frame get break.
After these all process I have reassemble the unit for testing. Powered the unit and played the song. And it sound loud without any vibration noise.
Vibration noise is because of speakers are not fitted properly & Low loudness is because of one speaker is not working wire got disconnected from the PCB.

Quick and decent repair! I guess that it maybe also would be a good idea if also the wires were glued to their positions with hot melt glue. Because the heavy vibrations of those speakers probably could cause this problem again. And the fact that portable devices once in a while tend to fall or are dropped undeliberately too.
