Repair Of Bluetooth Player

This bluetooth player was brought by a friend with complaint of not powering ON and not charging

bluetooth player repair

It’s one of those cheap player, on checking it, it was dead, thinking it could be battery problem, but alas it wasn’t. On opening it by removing case cover, remove battery for voltage test, voltage was o.k, replaced battery back and connected charging usb to charging slot, charging red led didn’t light, check for 5 voltage at the +&-  input pins of usb…no voltage. Then it done on me, there is problem on board: a kind of shorted circuit.

So I decided to check all components on board  one after the other, looking for a short.

Alas I got the component that was shorted, it was a tiny smd cap connected to main chip, then I did desolder chip off the board.

smd component burned

Then connected all connectors’ pins back, including battery and switch ON….Wow I heard  sound of ‘Bluetooth mode’ with the lcd screen segments light lit bright red, also try the charging circuit which function well too.

how to fix a broken bluetooth player

Play some music from sd card and also from phone on Bluetooth mode….so far so good. This is the finished repair work.

Good job Imoudu. I guess that they often use smd capacitors that are of inferioror quality or maybe not even for the right working voltage in a circuit why they fail in time.

    Good Work! Imoudu.O
Many people put this work aside thinking it is a complicated circuit, but the correct approach is to first check all the small components for shorting.
