Saving Computer SMPS Part-6
These TWO SMPS belonged to the hospital, where I worked. Both were brought in totally dead condition, but opened and cleaned by the IT maintenance staff, saving my time.
Case (1) Zebronics ZEB-N450W : The capacitors were found bulged. I removed the tank capacitors and found the following reading: (470uF was just 212.9uF)
Replaced all the electrolytic capacitors and retouched the boards with fresh solder, cleaned and lubricated the fan.
When I applied power with a 12V/25W bulb as load, the outputs were found to be ok.
Case (2) Zebronics ZEB-ML450W:
The story was different in this. It was a case of dry solder. But when I checked up the capacitors, the values were totally out and therefore I chose my enthusiastic work of replacing all of them. After finishing the work and retouching the board thoroughly, I fit large sized tank capacitors for the sake of testing as I was not having the short sized caps in stock, which I ordered online.
The short sized caps came later, which I fit side by side and accommodated it in the same place. The outputs were ok like before with the same load. Let us see the pictures now.
Missions accomplished and satisfactions in multiples got collected.
These two were yet another free of charge service to the great hospital in my home town, run by able, dedicated and committed management.
