Set Top Box Remote Revived
Received Set top box Bluetooth Remote with not working problem.
Pressed switches to get LED indicator to blink but no sign of the life. Remote looks very dusty. Initial I removed the batteries from the back side & checked voltage both battery shows 1.4V it should work.
Now is the time to disassemble the remote.
Using knife (blunted sharp edge), I pry the side edges to open the remote. (you can make pry tolls out of some your kitchen utensils like knife / Spoon /Butter steel thin spatula etc… as per your requirement).
This are my Some of DIY pry tools made from Broken Knife / Spoons / tongue Cleaner.
On taking apart remote, found some oil type substance on PCB track side & on rubber padsI assumed it was because of battery leakage. But on component battery connector I did not found any sign of battery leakage.
Asked customer he also not aware instead he told me battery is in remote for more than a year. So it is also surprise for me from where this liquid came from.
Remote was so dusty also so first of all I cleaned entire remote using soap water & dried it using hair dryer machine then cleaned using FALCON 530 Spray.
Now, the remote looks clean.
I kept open the parts for 1 hour & then I reassembled the remote for testing.
I pessed control pad numbers randomly & found RED LED indicator blinking.
For confirmation of working of remote I called the customer to check it with his set top box receiver.
He picked up the remote for testing & I got replay from him it works smoothly.

Vow! Amazing tools there, dear Yogesh Bai! Thanks for sharing this info! I used to wonder what I could use to open monitors and such tightly locked covers. You gave a wonderful solution! A big thank you, dear! The Fix of the RC unit also was carried out very professionally, though the monetary benefit would not match the work done! Hat's off!

Albert,
Falcon 530 is an electronic cleaner (Like IPA 99%), specifically a contact cleaner, designed for electronic devices and components.being non-conductive, quick-drying, and residue-free, making it safe for sensitive electronic components.

Very good, Yogesh. Concerning to the oil spread on the RC, I´ve yet faced this problem more than one time. It seems to be peculiar of some rubber pads, already in the manufacturing process. In don´t now why, but I noted that when the RC is new nothing happens. With the time of use, this oil begins to be dispelled out. Even after a cleaning, the oil spelling return with the time. Till now I didn´t understand the purpose of this oil. It could be for automatic cleaning, but a realize that the effect is just the contrary... Could anyone explain?

sorry!! Henrique Jorge G. Ulbrich,
i also do not have Idea may be plasticizer material oozing out.
(A plasticizer is a substance that is added to a material to make it softer and more flexible like rubber/silicon membrane, to increase its plasticity, to decrease its viscosity, and/or to decrease friction during its handling in manufacturing process which may ooze out because of some environmental effect)

Yogesh good job on the repair. That is a common problem. People get food or drinks inside of the remote and gets on the PCB and rubber pad buttons.

Something might have accidentally gotten in but that is not the case here it is oil like substance because Component side PCB does not have any sign of infiltration of fluid.

Did you replace the batteries?I wonder why oily substance would disturb a device when we use such substance to lubricate, thanks

You can test the remote with your mobile (cell) phone camera as the camera can see the inferred led blinking.
