Shutdown Teac Tv Alive Again
This tv was brought by a widow who pleaded earnestly for the tv to be repaired, but I told her am not sure of success but i will try, since i have not handle this type of tv before. This tv has an built-in dvd player and common interface slot.
Her complaint was the tv shut down suddenly while watching it. So i decided to try hand on it, after all experience does not come by folding of hands.
When i did open tv from front and removed the small panel, i observed tv had been repaired by someone before. The original psb had been removed and worked another type to it. Also backlight module had been attached to it.
Now i start my repair work, first i powered tv, did voltage test on secondary output voltage, there was no voltage(12v) So power board has problem, so checking it, a cap on emi circuit has burnt, fix it and switch on, there was voltage and standby light show but no picture, no audio.
Further checking reveal on main board, at common interface circuit, an smd cap was getting hot and a 10 ohms/1watt resistor had discoloured, these were replaced and powered on, wow…both video and audio featured. When side buttons were press, some were malfunctioning, so i did replaced all.
Here after i run a dvd disc on the built in dvd player for some hours without any hitch. This is the finished repaired work.

I started career in hotel industry as a chef, but then I was doing repairs only in electrical repairs as a hobbyist. In 2018, I decided to learn about electronics which through Jestine’s electronics e-books and holding my hand, am an electronics techie today.

Glad that you were able to fix this tv that was already fixed before by another technician.
It is always a small risk not knowing what to expect but you mastered the technical problem very well!

Albert,
You are right sir, infact I'm sometimes sceptical when i come across such repair case. The last one i got, the techie who first attempt to repair it had removed a zener diode which found difficult to replace since i don't know the voltage. Thanks for your comments.
