Substitution Of Transistor

By on April 9, 2008

An IBM CRT Monitor came in with no power problem. After checked everything i conclude that it was only the horizontal output transistor C5280 that have problem. Since i could not get the original part i put in C5411 as substitution. I burn in test the Monitor for couple of days under high resolution and the result was it worked perfectly okay. If you are repairing CRT Monitor then please jot down the part numbers and who knows one day you shall use it.

    Hi Jestine
When replacing transistor or fet when original part can not be found, what is the most important characteristics to look for when using another part? Can higher voltage and amps be used?
    Thanks Wimpie

      Hi Wimpie,

Yes you need to look for the same or higher spec.
