Tested The Blue ESR Meter
Well, i have installed and fixed the Blue ESR meter kitset and it only took me about 1 and a half hour to fully complete assembled it. I have also calibrated the meter too. The time that i have taken to fix the blue esr meter compare to dick smith esr meter is faster most probably due to the components value and part number were printed on the PCB board. In the dick smith esr meter board, the pcb board labelled as R2, C1, Q3 and etc but this blue esr meter pcb board labelled it as 10k, 330 nf, 100 uf and so on. You just have to insert the components right into the pcb holes and solder it. All these remove guesswork and speed up the assembling time. The manual given is in pdf file, if possible print it out for easy reference!
After fixing the blue esr meter kitset i used it to test electrolytic capacitors in a CRT monitor. The result that i got is similar to dick smith esr meter. It was fast and have a easy reference chart in the front panel of the blue esr meter. For your information , this blue esr meter can check low ohms resistors too where your normal analog/digital meter can’t test it. If you already have the dick smith esr meter, don’t buy this meter. If you do not own any esr meter, then i strongly suggest that you get one as soon as possible because esr meter can truly save your troubleshooting time and it is very accurate in testing electrolytic capacitors.
In fact I’ve already got the distributorship from anatek to sell this meter to ASIA, Malaysia and to Australia market-you can buy from me too if your country is not listed in my distribution list. It will take another week for me to completely finished the blue esr meter webpage that can take order worldwide. Buy from my coming website and i will personally support you just in case if you have any problems or questions related to fixing or using the blue esr meter. I will inform you through email (if you are a ERG member you will receive my email soon). Please take a closer look again of this fantastic blue esr meter photos:

This meter has been one of the best adquisitions I have ever made; and it has served me well to identify bad electrolytic caps onboard. However it doesn't do well with small metal polarized smd caps sometimes, and it doesn't have to do with anything wrong in the device. I had this monitor in which the inverter board didn't work. I tested all smd electrolytic caps using both a fluke multimeter and blue esr meter. The caps were rated 330/16v. With both instruments, caps tested good. However, by accidentaly trying to resolder small smd components with a heat gun on the main board I heated the caps too, and the problem was momentarily solved. I replaced the caps and the problem in the inverter was solved. I took the bad smd caps off the board, retested them and results were the same; around 330uF in the multimeter and very low esr in the blue esr meter. I saved the caps for later testing and recently I bought a bk precision 878b LCR meter. In this meter the caps report a capacitance of only 110 uF. On two high end fluke multimeters (87v and 289), capacitance still reads good at 330uF and blue sr meter also reports low resistance. So in the end, the most reliable intruments you have, the better. Regards.

Hi!
I am a real newbi on this, I suck big on reading the chart that is on the meter, i found your chart and that i much better, but...
Why is there no reference on charts with lower volts, such as (6.3V) or higher (400-450V)
Regards
Kenneth

HI Kenneth,
They never provide but you can make your own chart by writing down the good cap value for 6.3 and 400-450 v so that you can refer to it.

Hi Adrian,
Try this chart- https://www.jestineyong.com/about-the-blue-esr-meter-chart/. The meter can be used to check on smd electrolytic capacitors. There are many method to troubleshoot smd circuit board but then again it depends on what board and what kind of problem.

Hi Jestine,
I have a Dick Smith ESR meter the same as the one on the left of your photo. Unfortunately I failed to discharge a capacitor and it looks as if I've killed the processor. I only get segments of the right hand LED lighting. Would you be able to supply me with a programmed processor for it?
Thanks and kind regards,
Peter

Hi. Take a look what i found in my BLUE ESR METER that is no more than 2 years old.
This is UNBELIEVABLE.
http://i68.tinypic.com/2ceg4gi.jpg
The crappy capacitors were chong cd11x and chang brand.
I was expecting that they put quality caps like rubycon , nichicon etc. but i was wrong. Anyway, made in USA but with crappy chinese caps.
All of you who owns this meter you better start checking the caps or replace them all with a good known brand and then recalibrate the meter.
The IC's were removed to prevent an ESD discharge.
Warning: C6 is a bipolar capacitor.
Thank you.
