Transistor C5707 Equivalent Part Number
I got lots of emails asked about the substitution part number for C5707 transistor that were used in many LCD Monitors. I normally asked them to buy online as original part number is still the best part for replacement as it is not easy to get a replacement for this transistor. For your information if you have the C5706 transistors you can replace it with C5707 and i have tested it and the LCD Monitor worked perfectly okay. To some that can’t order the parts online and can’t get it from local electronic suppliers, in fact you can try this part number as replacement.
Try use TIP3055 transistor as recently i came across a website that says that it can be use for replacement for C5707. The TIP3055 is bigger in size compare to C5707 but with some adjustment you could easily fit into the board. However i haven’t try it before because i could get the C5707 from the local market. Try it and please let me know about the result. By the way you can download the C5707 transistor data or specification from this website-please click HERE.
TIP3055 is bad!

The TIP3055 is not a safe subsitute for the 2sc5707. It will work, but runs extremely hot, and will eventually catch fire unless adequately cooled in the vast majority of CCFL inverter circuits that it will operate in. There's a reason why cheap general purpose transistors don't wind up being used in place of specialised models, and it's reasonable to say that "fire hazard" is one of them!

An exact replacement for the 2SC5707 is the NTE2668. I check a batch and all have high Hfe and works.

HI Nishad,
I guess you need to check the corresponding components first before put in a new transistor and On. It may be a bad cap that had caused the transistor to blow again.

even though that the other transistors are c5706? i can safely use c5706 with c5707? coz on AOC LCD monitor, there 4 c5706 transistors, unfortunately, one of those transistors burned and i can't find any c5706 transistors here in our area.
is it safe to use c5707 transistor in replacement for just one defective c5706 transistor? thanks.

HI Arvie,
Yes, i have used that replacement (c5707) for many of the repair. It has higher spec than the c5706.

HI
I had this problem with dell monitor (E173Fpb) it was the blinking power light, i replaced the 4 C5707 transistors with C5706 that i found from an old working monitor, it worked for a while, and after two days, the same problem returned. After testing the transistors i realized that the were damaged. What you think could of been the problem?
Thanks

HI Allan,
You can't use c5706 as replacement because the spec for c5707 is higher. Check also for dry joints in the high voltage transformer pin, bad ecaps or even bad tuning cap.

HI
Thanks for the advice.
I had thought that, that was the problem. After getting hold of the data sheets for bothe the C5706 and C5707 i realized the specs were different. I had also checked for dry joints, as well as all the caps, all checked out.Because the monitor worked for awhile, that tells me it's just the Transistors that needs to be replaced.
Thanks very much

HI Jestine
Sometime ago I purchase a new version of dell monitor, the 19" S1909WX. It worked for a while, but now i keep getting this problem, every time i power it on, it would stay on for a short while, about 5 seconds, then would go black, a few minutes and it would come on and then do the same thing.
This inverter board is not like the older dells, there are no C5707 transistors, there are however 2 N channel powered mofets, could these be causing the problem? I've checked all the caps, they're all good, I've also looked for cold solder joints and re soldered the transformers and everything i could.
What's next?
Thanks in advance
Could i send u a pic of the inverter board?

HI Mark,
Is the supply voltage to the inverter IC stable when it shutdown? If it not stable then suspect a bad mainboard especially the MCU. I came across quite a number of MCU problem in Samsung that have the same symptom with your monitor.

HI PRIYANTHA,
Try compare the red and the green signals with the Blue color section in term of voltage and waveform in the CRT board. Any changes from the test would give you a clue where you should start to troubleshoot. Sometimes a corrupted EEprom data may give this kind of problem too.

The part # is NTE2668. Here's where I found it:

In the US, I can get it from Mouser:

I replace two of the c5707 with the NTE2668 and have been using the monitor for two days without any problems. I didn't check for excessive heat like the TIP3055 before I assemble the monitor, but I notice no excessive heat coming from the top vents in the monitor. I'll let you know if any problems arise in the future, but to me this looks like a good fix.

Hi All, you say you have replaced the C5706 on an LCD Monitor. Was the fault that the screen it would come on normally but after 2-3 secs would go black and at the same time the backlight would also go off? I have this fault on my Siemens Fujitsu Scenicview B15-1A. Have checked all other components and seem OK. Have replaced all capacitors just in case still no joy. There are signs of resistor overheating in the vicinity and a comparison "diode check" check on the four C5706 has revealed different values on two of the four, so maybe they are the culprits? Your help much appreciated.

Hi Giorgio,
Actually the cause of display shutdown could be from many reasons. One of the main reasons was the transistor shorted and backlight have problem. If you know how to test a transistor and found that the reading was different from the good one then you can presume that the transistor have problem. If all transistors check to be okay then suspect one of the backlight have problem.

Hi there
Thanks a lot for pointing out possible issues.
Now, for these living in Montreal there are good news: ABRA electronics have helped me to find an almost the same equivalent for 2sc5707
In their catalog we found that NTE2668 is a best one.
Small difference at high frequency (but who cares if it at 200MHz ??)
For others check NTE site at http://www.nteinc.com/
Hope this helps as it had for me
Cheers

HI Abebe,
May i know what do you mean od turn of frequency is high? If it shutdown after few seconds, make sure the output voltages are good and stable, no dry joints in the high voltage transformer and check the backlight too because if one of the backlight have problem it will shutdown.
