Treating LCD Panels Just Like The CRT Picture Tubes
If you are a seasoned electronic repairer who repair many CRT Monitor or TV, I’m sure you have came across many CRT picture tubes that was beyond repair. It could be the tube cracked, gas leaked, shorted G1 to G2 pin, shorted G2 and focus pin, shorted cathode to G1 and etc. Under these conditions, yes some of the tube can be fix but mainly not. If you can’t fix the tube then what is your next step? You can either replace with a new or a used tube or just send the set back to customer and labeling as a beyond repair case-am i right?
This scenario is almost the same as when you are repairing LCD Monitor. Some LCD Monitors complain was about lcd panel cracked, rainbow display, many vertical or horizontal lines, white display and etc. If you can’t repair it then the next step would be replace the LCD panel with a new or a used one or just send them back to customers and telling the customers it was “beyong repair”. I believe you get the picture now. Besides many customers will opt for a new set because they don’t want to spend so much money on a new or a used LCD panel.
In the future, if you come across any problem that relates to the bad LCD panels and you can’t repair it, don’t feel guilty or what because by making your decision fast you can save your time and move on to repair another unit.

Hi Nathan,
The burnt marks can't be repair in the CRT Monitor. As for the bar in LCD Monitor, it indicates a bad LCD panel and need replacement.
