LED TV BACKLIGHT REPLACEMENT

This hisense 32″ led tv was brought to me with complaint of no pictures but has audio. Usually technician will suspect backlight problem, so I removed back cover, measured backlight voltage which was 41.8V,then removed the connector and re-measured backlight voltage again, same 41.8V, this confirms led driver is o.k and led strips have problem.

So I dismantled motherboard, speakers, bezel, panel screen, white sheet, then removed the two led strips. Tested the two strips with my home made backlight tester, one strip is completely dead, so purchased brand new strips which are not exactly same with original ones, the strips connectors are not same position as the old original ones,so I hard to do a little adjustment.
Then I replaced and fixed the new led strips, fix all other attachments. Then switch on tv and this the end wonderful result. This the finished repair work.

Good job Imoudu after fixing this tv again no doubt without any existing service manual.
It seems that Hisense and Salora tv sets are often compared being in the same price range. Just like those from Toshiba. And the major differences are in the consumed power which even can be double that of their energy saving competitors.

When I saw this tv was having combo motherboard I was surprised unexpectedly.I got information online (AI) that all tv manufacturers are now using combo motherboard for 32" and above tv because of its cost effectiveness, except 4K tvs, that's why we can see same board in different brands. Thanks

Thanks for sharing with us, Imoudu. I've always identified LED TV combination boards as those NOT using an external power adopter or simply, boards having SMPS. Adapters to some extend cushion the mainboard from power surges. But then, more voltage has to be build up by the mainboard for say the LED voltage and the panel circuit, and so overloading the motherboard, hence shortening its life and also creating complications during fault-finding. Now Imoudu, I'm able to see quite a number of connection points for various cables on the mainboard, though even after enlarging the picture it isnt as clear as I expected. Could you kindly pinpoint the exact connection point for the LED strips. Just by writing, say, the connector at the left top side of the board, or the connector at the right bottom side of the board. Also write the number of the connection pins in the connector. All I know is, there, was taken a 41.8 V output reading, and there are two LED strips for the panel having 6 big LEDs each. Regards.

    Muykit,
At the left side of board, see a bold arrow with inscription of SMD on it,that points to the socket for backlight connector, first redish socket.Hope I'm clear enough, thanks.
