Will Dot Matrix Printer Go Obsolete?
You have seen lots of new model of printers (Laserjet and deskjet) coming out to the market but for the dot matrix printer, it was a bit slow. So, will Dot Matrix Printer go obsolete? The answer is no. My company still getting Dot Matrix printer for repair and most of the printers came from computer dealers that deals with the factories and offices that needs lot of printing. Not only they need to print a lot, they also need to print few copies (using carbonized paper) ie; a copy for customer, a copy for account’s department and another copy for reference. That means they are using 3 ply paper for this printing purposes. Imagine using Laserjet or Deskjet to print 3 times for the same information-the toner will deplete very fast and the price of a toner cartridge is quite expensive. For long term printing with laserjet or deskjet it will gone to cost a lot.
Since there are not many models of Dot Matrix printer in the market that means it don’t phase out that fast. It would be easy to get the spare parts and the price of the ribbon is also not expensive. The last point is that usually the service charge/labour charge and replacement parts for Dot Matrix Printer is cheaper than repairing the LaserJet.
Because of these advantages there is no reason for those who rely on Dot Matrix Printer to switch to using Laserjet printer. So do not worry, there will still have business for repairing the Dot Matrix printer.
