Not Steaming in Dirt Devil Easy Steam
My Wife walk into my shop and said the she had some Honey do’s for me and gave me this Dirt Devil Steam cleaner and said it’s not working and she want it fix in a hurry. I told her that I would have a look at it and she if it’s repairable. The complaint was that she was not getting any steam from it. The first thing came to mind was that the steam nozzle had clogged.
I check it out and sure enough it was not steaming but I can feel the unit hot from the heater, so I know the heater was working, next I switch on the pump and I could hear the pump working…
So I thought to myself easy fix the nozzle was clog. I began to disassemble the unit. See picture below.
I inspected the nozzle at the bottom and it looks ok (see photo below), next I disconnected the tube that runs from the heater and switch the unit on to see if I was getting the water from the heater and I was not.
In the photo below is the heater outlet.
I then tested from the pump to the heater and I still was not getting water, so next I tested the inlet to the pump and sure enough there is water coming to the pump, so the pump was at fault.
The following pictures are the disassembly of the pump.
To remove the pump from the housing you must remove the C Clip as shown in the picture below.
It is a solenoid operating pump.
The Spring must place between the two metal seats as shown above.
This Seat is the outlet to the heater, this seat is very small, and you are looking at it through my Microscope. This seat was the problem, it was stuck down to the metal body and causing the water not to flow to the heater. It operates as a check valve. See the spring in the next photo.
Once I reassemble the pump and installed it back into the Steamer and switch it on you can see the water coming out of the pump hose.
It does not output much but it enough for the heater.
In the picture above, it is assembled to the heater and tested before I assemble the complete unit. Below are photos of it assembled completely and operating.
My Wife will be very pleased to get this Steamer working again as she uses it a lot. Honey do’s done.

Glad that you were able to help your wife with fixing her dirt-devil-steam-cleaner Andre. Nice photos and good explanation. The Honey do’s you mentioned at first made me think they were some Candy like in "sweet for my sweet sugar for my honey". You of course meant it differently. But I guess that as long as she calls you Honey and not Dirt Devil you are fine!(LOL).
