This TV was brought by a known CCTV service provider with the complaint that the TV gets on with display but no input worked. I switched on the TV and found it was working with a few horizontal lines at the bottom, which cannot be seen easily. I saw mud wasp had taken over the screw holes, blocking entry and easy removal of the screws.

But there were more surprises waiting inside the TV. (Please sit or hold on to something strong, before you see the inside.) Let us have a look of it:

As you can see from the pictures, apart from a lot of dust and dirt collection, all the six electrolytic capacitors were found burst! I wondered how even the TV got switched on with display with these conditions inside! It was a case of its survival in spite of extreme abuses meted out! Strange and amazing are the ways of electronic circuits!

I cleaned the inside thoroughly using blower as well as brushes and replaced all the six ELCOS. Also cleaned and lubricated all connectors. The TV worked perfectly thereafter, which brought a heave of sigh in me, though the tremors of the surprise still remained! Here is a look of the board after thorough cleaning and replacement of all ELCOS, along with proof of its working.

The value of ELCOS were 470/16 – 4, 100/16 – 1 and 47/50 – 1. I replaced all these with 25V & 63V ratings. The TV was run for sufficient time before transferring it to the ‘Delivery Room!’

Mission accomplished with surprised satisfaction that got its entry into the collection bag.

It seems to be a better sort of tv design because it kept working even though most of its e-caps were goners. And the fact that you found and fixed all of them of course was no surprise!
