Burst X Type Capacitor Caused TV Go Dead In Philips CRT TV
MAKE AND MODEL: PHILIPS CRT TV MODEL NO.20-GX-1553/94R
COMPLAINT REPORTED: Dead
HISTORY: Visited me in February, 2019. https://jestineyong.com/burst-capacitor-and-cracked-dry-solder-found-in-philips-crt-tv/
TROUBLESHOOTING AND RECTIFICATION DONE: Visited my friend’s home which is nearby, removed the cover, discharged the anode and tank capacitor, brought the Board home. Did a general cleaning. Noticed that the fuse was blown and an X type AC 470nF Cap burst. Replaced it. Looked for any other failures in the SMPS primary and secondary. Did not find any. Removed the B+ rail to the FBT and connected a 100W bulb as load.
The Output voltage of 95V was quite normal for this CRT TV. So, disconnected, discharged the Tank capacitor, went to his home, refit the board back to CRT. Switched on and found the TV to be working very well once again. As I forgot to carry my mobile, I could not click a picture. Anyhow, most of these are already covered in the previous article.
HERE ARE THE PICTURES OF THE CURRENT OPERATION:

I reached the conclusion so far that every diseased capacitor of this world, seeking its own reincarnation, finds eventually its way to Parasuraman and gets a new life again...and again!!
