No Power In Haier 32″ LED TV Fixed
This Haier 32 Inch LED TV came in for repair with the complaint of no power. For your info no power symptom can be caused by either the power supply board or the mainboard. Well, it can be caused by some other factors but generally are very rare.
The moment I have removed the TV cover I saw the three boards i.e; Power Board, T-con board and the mainboard.
The first thing I check was the fuse and DC output voltage of the power supply board because I need to know if the power supply board is working or not. If there are DC output voltages, this means the no power symptom most likely the mainboard problem.
From the test, there was no dc output voltages from the power supply and this means the power supply board is the cause of the no power symptom.
The moment I flipped the power supply board I got a scared for a while because there was a dead lizard at the back of the circuit board. This is the reason why the power supply was not working.
I checked all the corresponding components to the power IC and all seems to be working fine but found a circuit track was broken-see the yellow arrow in the photo below:
So, from my experience, most likely the power IC has kaput and need replacement. I have the part and the part number was OB5269CP.
It was pretty easy to remove the SMD power IC with my hot air gun. After the replacement was done and I powered On the TV and I’m happy that the TV came back to life. Take a look at the photo below:
Conclusion- Assuming after the replacement of the power IC and power supply still refuse to function, then I may have to use DC voltage to check on the VCC pin of the power IC and start to track the output signal of the power IC to see if there is any missing or improper signal. That indeed was a scary lizard! They appear very frequently in electronic devices in India and I guess they are as unwanted as rats here causing many unexpected problems.
