Burnt Motherboard Replaced In Samsung LED Monitor 632NW
This monitor was brought to me by a techie friend stating that it was lying unused and when he tried to use it, only white display was present. I opened the set and subjected it to a thorough cleaning. I noticed that the mother board had burnt marks in several places.
Evidently, this board was beyond repair, as the tracks inside the board also might have burnt. I told my friend that the mother board needed replacement and then put an SOS in my whatsup group.
One of the other techie friends had one piece lying with him, which he brought and asked me to pay only after checking it was working. I connected the motherboard and found that it was working perfectly fine.
Since this was my first experience of changing a mother board in a monitor, instead of troubleshooting and rectifying the defects in it, the work, we can say, was completed satisfactorily adding it to the collection sans the thrill associated with it.
I paid a compromised cost of the board to my friend who gave it and thanked him.

Parasuraman: The board that was burnt wasn't worth trying to repair, so you did the right thing and replace it. Good Job, and the feeling that goes with it.

After repairing many (crt) tv sets, amplifiers, cassette recorders, many smps units and other analogue devices in the past, this shows you now also added digital repair engineering to many successful repairs!

Very interesting Parasuraman. So the area where the burn marks are circled in red didnt have faulty components in that location? The area just spontaneously combusted?

It could be, but I didn't not bother to investigate further as these are multilayer boards and it is almost impossible to track!

Sir,
Right decision; in fact these are Multi layer PCBs needs circuit diagram to make jumper and also it needs HD Microscope & precision tools while doing Jumper.

sometimes the board is beyond repair and the only way is to find a board replacement, there is nothing wrong with that. you provided a service either in repairing the board or in replacing the board, you do what you can to help the customer out. have a blessed day
