Hi, I need your help. I have a humming problem in my turntable setup. Whenever I turn up the volume or tap on the turntable, a loud humming noise can be heard on the speakers. I have already grounded my TT to my amp.

I am wondering if a "Ground Loop Isolator" would solve my problem.

    Thanks.

A hum made by a turntable shouldn't come and go with tapping, sounds like a wire opening,I would take the wires lose on both ends and check them one at a time with a ohms meter (set meter on ohms R X 1 and attach each cable end to one meter probe, this should read 000 on the meter Then move the wire around, wires break where they move the most. the meter reading should not change if it does that wire is bad replace it),if that passes ok,try the cartridge I would google it to see how it's made and see how to test it ,One other thought,is to check how tight and how clean your connections are use alcohol to clean them check the plugs too for bad solder joints,
      Good luck!

    HI John,

Before you get the above device, i suggest that you check all the e-caps in the set because an open e-cap also could cause humming sound.
