A CD Player With F61 Fault Repaired. Panasonic SA-AK18
This CD player was brought by an extended family member and he is also my son’s guitar teacher. When the CD player is powered on, He gets an F61 warning on the display but not every time he powers the CD player on.
I have seen this fault before in my shop but it was a long time ago and from experience, it is either something have to do with the amplifier IC that gone bad or simply bad or cold soldering joints on that board.
I powered on the CD player and with plastic side of the screw driver I started adding pressure to this side of the board and guess what?
As I push more, the F61 was not showing which conclude it is soldering joints issue. I applied fresh solder to this side of the board but the problem remained so it seems like the lower part of the board that has the issue.
I took the back metal part, the main board and finally I got to this lower side of the device.
Few more screws and I will get this board off and check for bad or cold soldering joints.
If you look closely to the previous photos, you would see bad soldering joints that needed some tender loving care.
I checked the whole board for bad soldering joints and also added fresh solder to the pins on the Audio amplifier IC.
I put everything back and tested and as seen in the photo, the error display is gone and now it is saying NO DISK and that is any easy problem to fix (LOL).
