CANON LBP2900 Laser Printer Unit Error
Problem Symptom: While Printing it gives error on computer screen, Error code is E000 0000
Fixing Unit Error is related to Fusing Section & involved both suspected area Mechanical as well Electronics Circuit.
So time to open the printer for visual inspection.
Opened Logic Board Side Cover where USB Cable gets Connect. There is no sign of physical damage. Now opened Power Supply Board side where power cable gets connected.
Checked Fuser Heating Element Resistance on Heater Connector, showing no resistance (In normal working Heating element is above 85Ω).
So probable culprit here is Fuser Unit. Opened Back cover & top cover to reach Fuser Unit. First remove all cables going via Fuser assembly to Power Board. For removing fuser assembly, we need to open 3-screws marked location with 3- Red Circle.
Disassembly process is lengthy for newbie, so either keep the photograph of each step or put mark up on any page.
Now we have to remove Fuser Film roller unit which is having heating element in side.
Always keep the removed parts on their identical Left & Right hand side, like lever & Metal clip. So that on refitting of parts you will come to know which part belong to which side. After removing Film roller outside, I found heating Element Burnt & Broken.
Arranged working Heating Element from my salvaged parts Box.
Checked Heating Element before Installation.
Now put everything back & re-assembled the printer for testing……
I powered ON the Printer & Got this error message ….
You see the Original Error was “FIXING UNIT ERROR” & Now it gives “Out of Paper error” Because there is no paper loaded in the tray.
Now loaded the papers in paper tray & result is….
Printer is back to normal function.

You really had a hard job in fixing this laser printer! They are so difficult to service because of the correct disassembly method we have to follow. The many screws and parts we have to disconnect and afterwards have to re-assemble again is no fun for any engineer! Kudos!

Albert,
By looking into the Picture it looks difficult task, but trust me it is fun, just remember "Victory is beyond fear" But you have to have knowledge about what you are doing. As far as cleaning is concern Never blow air in side to blow out a dust.there are so many Sensors in side,if few of them accumulate dust at the time of cleaning, printer will behave like mad and it becomes difficult to fault finding.

That is a sure thing Yogesh! Also because of the toner powder that is inside these laserprinters that is harmful for eyes, lungs and our health!
The final toner particle is less than 7 µm (microns) in size. Potentially toxic compounds may adhere to the surface of the toner particles, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), ethylbenzene, phenols, aldehydes or various carboxylic acids.

I enjoyed your article although I never worked on a printer unless they have power issues. Thanks for sharing and many blessings to you.
