Problem with Missing Part Number In Component

By on July 27, 2012

Sometimes troubleshooting can be very easy. You can find out the fault in less than couple of minutes. However there are things that can hold you from successfully repair the equipment. Here are just some of the problems:

1) Can't locate the part number (missing or burnt parts)

2) Do not know where to find or buy the replacement parts

3) No schematic diagram to find out the original part number

4) The replacement parts are too expensive

Lets take a look at one example- I have an ERG member who repair Home Theatre system and he found a power regulator IC already blown and because he could not find the exact part number and schematic thus he just can't repair the set. If you have any idea or information about the below IC please do leave a comment.

If someone who is dealing with Home Theatre repair for many years I guess he should know what the part number is. I have also ERG members that emailed me about finding the part number for an IC where the part number had been removed by sand paper and also missing part number sticker in the TV flyback transformer. Without the part number the member just could not buy the right flyback for replacement.

what i have done in the past, where some of the part number is missing ,is to google part of the components part number, but type in "datasheet" next to the numbers, ive had success doing this a few times, not a lot of use though if the complete part number is missing, thats where the schematic comes in handy.

      Hi Lee,

I have done that with no result. I keyed in different part number. But just now, I stumbled upon a website that have similar shape and when I looked at the part number it was MR5060 and here is the link: http://www.utsource.net/MR5060.html
