7805 Voltage Regulator IC Pin Identification

By on July 5, 2013

Last week due to high voltage the tape recorder was burned. simply i have removed the screw and  checked the components .there is one capacitor value 4700mf /50v ,2200mf,1000mf capacitors are blast.just i have cleaned the cabin .there is one more thing 7805 is connected wires are removed.i don’t know where to connect those wires. Please give me the hints.

Answer:

First you need to know that pin 1 of 7805 is the dc supply voltage, pin 2 is the ground and pin 3 is the output voltage. The output voltage of 5 volt is going to mainboard or circuits. Pin1 dc supply voltage usually comes from the power supply secondary side and the voltage should be more than 5 volt. It could be from 7 to 20 volts. This 7805 according to the specification can take up to 38 Vdc for input voltage.
