I know that the price of the computer mouse is so cheap that once it has problem you will not think twice of repairing it. You will just throw the mouse and get a new one. Just in case if you want to experience of fixing your own computer mouse then please see the photo below and this link.

I have repaired lots of mouse (serial, ps/2 and optical) and used for long time. First clean the LED where ray travels. Most of the mouse can be repaired very easily. Check all the cables with analog meter carefully, resistance should not be greater than 2 ohms, if found any problem, cut the wire near mouse where wire is folding each and every time, then resolder as before. Now it will be ready to work. Other faults are very rare.
