A Blue Tooth Speaker With A Broken USB Port Repaired
It is the second time around this blue tooth speaker showed up in my shop for repair but this time it was for a broken USB port and not the charging port.
If you look closely you would see the broken USB port and it was time to take it apart and replace it with a new one.
Few screws off and I was able to see the inside of the device and as you can see in the photo,
there is nothing much to it but it is still a repair job to do so let us get started.
I also have spotted some cold soldering joints that need some love tender care so I got to it right away and then headed to the replacing of the broken USB port.
I used the Hot Air station to de solder the part out and as you can see in the photo,
the broken and the replacement USB ports compared.
I cleaned the area, added fresh solder to the pins and that way, the replacement USB port is ready to be soldered on board.
It is a big USB port and it was easy to soldered back on board.
I put everything back together and here was the final result of the repair.

Well done!Good job.I want to know from you,can we able to remove normal micro controller IC(64 pins) used in TV boards by using hot air gun. If it is so please explain me the method.This is very much helpful for me.Thank you very much for sharing.

Babu: thanks man. yes you can. there are tons of methods to do that. you need to understand the hot air machine that you have in the shop. what I mean by that is you know the strength of the hot air being produced because every machine has different calibrations. add flux, heat up the board just enough to make it warm then use more hot air to melt the solder under the chip. I usually use 450 heat and flow of air about 40 to 50. keep in mind when taking that chip out you can not put it back unles you re touch the soldering balls on it using a stencil for that specific IC. also make sure on the other side of the board there are not small component that could be effected with the heat used. Good Fix! Waleed, Now we have to keep the stock of variety of USB Connectors majorly used in new coming electronics Gadgets for repair.

Let's hope that the owner will be more careful on his Bluetooth speaker next time! So it will not show up for another repair a third time too.
