A Broken Charging Port On A Laptop Mother Board Replaced
This board was brought to me by a friend of mine about a month ago. The issue was a broken charging port. At that time the guy asked me to just solder the broken hot tip on the port. The computer worked for a while but today the same mother board was brought back for the charging port replacement.
I already have the same exact charging port so I went ahead with the replacement.
As seen in the photo, someone already tried to take that broken charging port off board
because I could see some burning and flux marks in that area.
Here is a closer look of this broken charging port and as I said before I could see an attempt to remove that part off board.
The replacement fit perfectly on that board and it was time for the broken to come off and be replaced by the new one.
I applied flux along with low melt solder and with my heat gun set on 350 and air flow 40 I was able to remove that part in no time.
It is nice and clean and was ready to receive the new charging port.
Added flux and I soldered that new part and I gave it to the customer for testing because he did not bring the charger with the board.
He called me later on and informed me that the laptop is up and running and he will bring me more stuff for repair.
Mission Accomplished.

Parasuraman: thanks man. yes indeed because a lot of people has no idea how to reove such charging ports and end out burning the board or make it a little bit harder to fix. in may case it was not that bad. have a blessed day.

Good job! As long as the tracks in the multilayer motherboard are not damaged repair is still possible. In the past those dc power jack chassis mounts were also successfully removed with my soldering iron and enough solder and flux. Using too little solder and flux never works because the old solder needs to liquefy fast to make a quick removal of the chassis power jack possible.

Albert: thanks man. that where the low melt solder come in handy. just add the low melt, with the heat gun, it will come out in on time. have a blessed day
