A Dead Cement Vibrator Repaired
A building contractor brought two cement vibrators for repair. Since both of them have the same issue I only shared the repair of only one device.
I had these devices in my shop before by the same customer and the issue today was a dead device.
After cleaning the dust inside with an air blower I opened the device and as seen right away that both power and low high setting switches were broken and I believe that was the reason this device was not powering on.
I gave a simple advice to the customer for maintenance; to clean the device once the job was done and that will help with the extension of the life of it. Of course he said he will try his best and in my mind I doubt he will do that because I gave the same advice the last time he was in my shop and the device came back in bad dirty shape.
That is the whole device including the vibrating transformer and it is time to replace the two switches on it.
As seen in the photo these are oval shape switches and when I looked in my shop I only found a round ones so I had modify the holes in the plastic to fit these switches.
After I fitted both switches on the plastic piece I powered on the device and this thing is loud and has high vibrations;
it almost fell off my repair table but I managed to shut down in time before it happened.
You can still see the mess on this vibrator but I tried my best to clean it and reminded the customer once again to clean it and keep it in good shape.
Mission Accomplished.

Cleaning, use steel or copper brush
Its a pity , the switches are not waterproof.

Erik: I know but what is the point if I clean it and the customer brings it back dirty again? the customer has to learn to do that but they never listen. have a blessed day

Good one Waleed.
Such device should come with a clear boot/cover to prevent ingress.
Not much you can do as these things are usually molded for the specific switch.
Next time it comes in why not talk to the customer about upgrading to a Waterproof Round Rocker Toggle Switch? They are rather cheap from China and easy to install. Very good IP ratings and they even come with LEDs if they so desire.

Tayo: I apprecicate your suggestions but since we are in a war situation in the area not many people are willing to upgrade due to lack of income so they like it cheap and fast. have a blessed day

Stubborn customers like these owe some money to us and won't stop until every penny is paid up! (LOL) Many such customers do not feel the importance of keeping gadgets clean and neat. Anyhow, that is also! to our advantage, though we may have to collect the dust and dirt in our premises

Good Fix! Waleed
Now a days customer's buying mentality changed to use & throw quality in every field.they are not concern about technicians investment cost for tool effort, time spend for diagnosis or repair their equipment.

Yogesh: that is a very true statement my friend but due to the war situation rigt now all the people can not buy new things any more because of the lack of income so everyone is focusing on buying food for the family so the repair situation is down darastically but hopefully things will get better. have a blessed day
