A Dead Steam Cooker Was Restored Back To life. Model: Benaton
A customer brought me this steam cooker for repair and explained that the machine went into shut down while he was about to do some cooking in it.
First thing to do was to make sure the 220 AC volts were reaching the connection
that can be seen on the right side of the photo and they were present.
There were two layers of plastic on top so took that off as well and I could see the power supply on the left side of the photo.
Finally, I was able to get to the power supply and I right away I checked the fuse and it was open. Could it be that simple?
I could see a burn mark next to that green resistor/coil part but I was glad it was just a burn on the board and the part was ok.
Next to that open fuse was the varistor and there was a sign of burn on it.
The varistor was not shorted ( just glue gone bad) and I was happy to see that but since the fuse was open,
I checked around for shorted components like the bridge rectifier diodes and everything seems to be in good order.
Yes, as I was hoping, it was a simple fix. The only bad part on that board was the fuse so I put everything back together and as seen in the photo; it was working just fine.
I called the customer for pick and both of us were happy with the outcome.
Mission Accomplished.

Taya: according to the customer it was a power surge because they loose power in that area very often. replacing the fuse was simple but getting to it, was ok but lots of work. have a blessed day
