A Faulty Fan On A Welding Machine Replaced and Maintained. Model: ARC-200
A customer brought this welding machine for repair; he said the fan is not spinning at all but he had to use it for a while without any cooling fan running.
As I usually tell the customer not to use any welding machines without any cooling fan running because they will end up with overheating devices
they eventually will shut down and cost money to get it fixed but customers do not listen so at this time I did not say anything to the customer but continued with the repair.
I took the cover off and took the fan out but when I tested it using regular 220 AC volts, the fan ran beautifully but it has some kind of weird sound coming out of it so I talked to the customer about a new fan replacement and we talked about the cost.
The fan to the left is the replacement part and it took me a while to find such a replacement. I had to talk to many friends of mine who are technicians to find me such a replacement and finally I found a brand new one but it was not cheap.
Since we are in a war situation, not many supplies are coming in and if they do they usually are more expensive. I found a place on line for such fans and I ordered a lot of them so hopefully in less than a month I will have enough supplies in the shop that will last long.
Anyway, before I attached the fan, I cleaned the dust and dirt using an air blower and checked for bad soldering joints and made sure all we well within its specs.
I replaced the fan and also added a new fan grid for more protection. The only challenge I faced replacing this fan were the four screws attaching it to the body of the machine. I could not use the original screws because they were too thick to fit but I used the right size screw with nuts and washers to attach it firmly to the body of this welding machine.
This is the finishing product and I was happy with the outcome and so was the customer.
Mission Accomplished.

The customer brought the machine to you in time for a new replacement fan, so luckily no other electronic parts were damaged afterwards.

Imoudu: thanks man. alot of welding machines especially the heavy duty ones use this kind of 220 ac volts fans and as long the welding machine is on, the fan is on as well to provide the right and enough cooling for welding. have a blessed day
