A PS4 Controller With Issues Cleaned and Maintained
My nephew brought me his PS4 controller for repair and the main complain was the R1/R2 is sticky and things associated with that button are not working that way it should be.
He bought the PS4 station less than one year ago but he uses it a lot playing games with it.
Usually issues like that it have to do either with cleaning or the button rubber pads are torn; let us find out the cause of this issue.
Four screws off and I was able to get inside the PS4 controller.
Be careful when taking the back cover off; there is a flex cable connected to the main board and ribbing it off will cause a malfunction issue.
I took the two plastic buttons off and I could see lots of dirt there. I used a Q tips with a touch of IPA and wiped that area off. A lot of dirt came out but there is more to go..
That is the pad for both buttons and it has to be cleaned as well. I do not recommend using IPA here I just use a dry Q tip and rub that dirt off. I am sure you can see the dirt line on the left side of the pad.
After I made sure all this area was clean and nice, I put everything back together and tested it. I had my son’s play station in the shop so I asked the professional one (my son) to check it out and see how it runs. He assured me that all is well and to that I can say.

Good thing that careful cleaning was all that it took to fix the issue! Getting those Q tips will become a big problem in the future, at least in Europe, because they are thinking of completely banning production and selling of these type of plastics.

Good fix! try rubbing pencil carbon on those pad.i repaired may remote control with this trick.
