A Shorted Power Supply Was Brought Back To Life. Model: CH-600-12
A store owner and a friend of mine brought this power supply for repair. He said that it just stopped working for some reason. He wanted it as soon as possible so let the repair begins.
This is used to power up LED light strips in his store.
He is doing some kind of celebrations since he had this store for over 5 years now and wanted the LED lights all powered up.
This power supply has three terminals that can output 12 DC volts at the same time at the rate of 50 amps rate.
There is no obvious damage shown here but since it is dead my first step is to check the main fuse and beyond.
With the help of my son Mark I was able to capture some shots here so he was a big help here.
As seen in the photo, the fuse is open so the next step would be checking the bridge rectifier for damage.
As expected, the bridge rectifier was damaged as well and needed a replacement. It is a 15 amp part and had to be replaced with the same specs.
After further checking on that board I found two shorted Mosfets with part number 20N60C3. I did further testing on that board and find out that no more damaged parts there.

I replaced the bridge rectifier, the two Mosfets, of course the fuse and tested through a current limiter.
The current limiter light was dim which is a very good indication that all is well and no more shorted parts on board. As seen, the power supply is up and running.
I called the customer for pick. He came right away and called me later on that everything was up and running the way it should be.
Mission Accomplished.

Thanks for sharing this repair and another mosfet datasheet Waleed! 50A at 12V equivalent to 600 Watt of power is quite a large led strip!
