A Sub Woofer With A Distorted Sound Repaired
A friend of mine who lives close by called me a about a distorted sound in a sub woofer speaker system and he wanted it repaired as soon as possible.
This customer used to have a repair shop in town but he closed it down due to lack of customers and of course no income.
It is very sad how many technicians in my area are closing down due to the same situation.
When distortion happens in a speaker system, it could be as easy as a bad capacitor and that is exactly what I saw the moment I took the cover off.
The job was as simple as replacing a defective capacitor and as seen in the photo it was 2200Uf/25 volts and it took me less than ten minutes to get it done.
Once the capacitor was replaced, I powered on the device and it was working like a charm. It was not the best sound quality but it was working just fine.
I called the customer for pick up and when he asked how much it was I said not to worry about it because he is a friend and we grew up together but he insisted on paying the repair cost.
He was happy it was fixed; I powered the speaker for him so he can test it out and he was pleased with the outcome.
