A Welding Machine With Damaged Output Terminals Replaced
A welding technician brought these two welding machines for repair. Both had the same issue; damaged output terminals and needed replacement.
As seen in the photo one side was damaged really badly so I suggested to the customer to replace both negative and positive terminals of both machines
but I am showing one machine repair because both have the same issue.
It is a very easy process but first I have to unscrew both screws from inside of the machine to free the board.
Once they are free then I will take the screw holding the parts to the metal body of the machine.
Once that is done then I will install the new parts and make sure that are insulated from the body of the machine especially the positive side otherwise we would have issues there.
These are the new replacement and yes I thought of the same thing; they are both black and the customer might get confused between positive and negative plugs.
I talked to the customer about it and he was fine with it.
Installing these part is easy but think about it this way; taking these parts out, pay attention the way they were on then install them back the same way they were, there is nothing hard about it.
I installed the screws attaching the board back then I was done with the replacement of these terminals.
That is the final installation of these terminals and I say they look good but
now it is time to test them and make sure they are outputting the right voltages needed for welding.
Mission Accomplished.

You often sure get a lot of very abused welding machines but always know how to fix them which is applaudable!

I would have engraved a + and - on the upper outer body of the terminal housing or a red spot on the inner terminal housing.I enjoy your welder repair articles.Keep up the good work.
