ADC Coffee Maker Powers On But No Heat Repaired
A usual morning, woke up and prepared the coffee maker to make coffee, pushed the power button on and then started getting reading to take my kid to school. Usually I could smell the coffee being made but today, I could not smell it, something was wrong. I went to check it out. I could see the power button on but there was no coffee coming down. I was really frustrated.
I had this machine for over three years now and it is a very good coffee maker but on that morning I had to make coffee the old fashion way and of course that took extra time for the coffee to be ready.
Anyway, I took the coffee maker to my shop for repair. Here is the story.
Since the water was not coming down into the coffee pot of the machine, the problem could be the heating element itself and that is where I headed first. I checked the two thermal fuses on the bottom but they were fine. I checked heating element resistance and that also checked fine.
Since there was nothing wrong in that area I headed next to the power board itself. I did not go there first because the power button on the machine was on and I did not suspect anything wrong power wise.
The only bad part I could find on that board was the .46UF capacitor; its capacitance was measuring below that value and it had to be replaced.
I found the same exact capacitor in my shop and right away replaced it and hoped for the best.
I do not know if you can see the steam in the photo because I added some water on the heating plate and it started to evaporate.
Anyway it was repaired and I was very happy. I am looking forward to next morning to enjoy a nice cup of coffee and to that I could say
Mission Accomplished.

Did you not drink a cup of coffee, after a satisfying work? (LOL) Many thanks for sharing a new experience in the circuit!

Parasuraman: No I did not since I did not bring the coffee pot to the shop because they break very easily. I should have though. LOL have a good day

Opening these devices is a tricky job in itself. So excellent job after replacing the "transformer" power replacement component being the special safety x2 0.47uF capacitor. I had a PUC cup coffee maker in the past from AH (Dutch convenience store: Albert Heijn) that sadly was beyond repair as the special heater element was defect and these machines were so bad they very soon were no longer sold. And recently I bought a brandnew cup coffee maker from Blokker (also Dutch shop), came home and noticed that the heater element failed to work and instead of within 40 seconds heating up, the coffeemachine was defect already. The next day I got another Blokker cup coffee machine that works fine. So if it is the heater element that is defect in these special cup machines it is probably unfixable because spare parts are probably not available. And the AH coffee maker couldn't compete with the much better made Philips Senseo pads coffee machines why they lost business.

Albert: that was my concern the first time I opened the coffee maker because if the heating element was open, then it is cheaper and better to replace the whole machine. any way, I am back to enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning with the family and what a time well spent. have a good day my friend.

yogesh: thanks man. if the issue was the heating element I would have thrown the coffee maker away since these heating elements are hard to find especially to match it value. I have tried to find them but so far no such luck. I would be cheaper to buy a new machine. have a blessed day
