I received this machine from an old lady with the complaint that it was not working properly.

blood pressure monitor repair

First I tried to test my own blood pressure, I installed the machine over my wrist and pushed the start button the machine start to inflate the balloon over my wrist by sending the air and try to stop the stream of blood inside my vessel but failed and stopped and the EEROR appeared on the screen

  • This machine was given services to owner at least 6 years and by my experience electronic machines older than 5 years are suspect to cool joints and due to passing the time the solder crystalize and does not make a good contact with other parts. then I decided to reflow major parts on the pcb. But what is reflow? watch this
  • video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOUf59iut3s) .I opened the machine by three screws

blood pressure monitor circuit repair

I started to reflow the big ic and other neighbor. after reflowing  I tried to turn on the machine and asked to determine my blood pressure but no progress!! The machine failed again. this does not mean the big ic did not need reflowing but may be means that machine is faced with multiple problems!

machine gave ERROR and left incomplete the job of pumping the air to the wrist balloon to stop the flow of blood inside of my vessel and then by deflation of air restart to count the heart rate pulsing. but I feel that the air that is pumping with air pump is coming out of the system somewhere!

blood pressure monitor circuit fix

I decided to open other mechanical parts in more depth of the machine under the lcd display.

I discovered that the air pipe that is responsible to bringing the air pressure to the wrist band balloon is punctured and/ or deflate and the pressure of air pump does not rich that much to satisfy the sensors to trigger the micro to continue the program of machine and start to count the blood pressure of the person that is under the test cos air is coming out of the system! yes the air pipe was torn yes this was the main problem of this machine. for repair

blood pressure monitor circuit fix and repair

I tried to find such air pipe in the market but I found not exactly for this brand but what I found was good enough to match to this machine I replaced the old and broken air pipes with this new one after that the machine returned backed to normal job again and rescued. I test my own blood pressure and it was in normal tolerances and machine was working good and old lady also was happy too

Thousands machines like this one are waiting  to receive such services  in the world and  with small efforts are repairable. The cost of this repair  was just 50 cents.

Note 1:  I used the hot air gun GORDAK 952 for reflowing of big ices.

Note 2: first the own air pipe of the machine looked good but when I touched it by my hand destroyed and felt on the table.

A professional repair Beh!, but sadly not always as easy on these blood pressure machines as in this case. Most of the time it is the motor or something else mechanical that needs fixing too. I'm glad that your English is much better than my Arabic or Persian writing. I guess you must have been very busy with repairs to have had little time to check on the spelling (;). By-the-way: Many older people buy these blood and other testers but since they can deviate upto about 20% tolerance from the real values from those the doctor uses I do not bother to buy these devices myself. (Also because my blood pressure miraculously never is bad although other health issues need improvement).

For me was the first time i opened such machine and .yes i am lucky that the problem was just the air pipes . i will thankful of you if you send me info s about the air motor pumps of this blood pressure monitor. Doctor es are not available always every where to measure the blood pressures of people these machines are better than nothing but the person that is using this machine must be aware of this tolerances & thanks for your supports

If I find info on those motors, or on other components I will let you know Beh. The last time I checked the blood pressure meter of my brother it was beyond repair. As were some other very cheap meters to measure body temperature that were too complex to fix. With no replacement components and no datasheets at hand they are close to impossible to fix.

Good job Beh. Sometimes there are several faults, which can be frustrating because you carry out one repair only to find another.

good repair work. yes I had issues like this before but the faulty part was the motor itself. it is still sitting on my shelf because there is not working motor to fit the device.

As long as you open the motor you will see the problem with your eyes.if not then check the wire windings and so and so. at most, the type of motor must be verified is obtainable via the net? or not? if so is it economically to buy a new motor or not?

A leaky pipe! Not exactly an electronics problem. But that's part of the job that makes it somewhat interesting. The problem could turn out to be anything and the solution could be simpler than we expect. Thanks for the article, Beh!
