Calculated Capacitor Codes
By Jestine Yong on September 2, 2010
For electrolytic capacitors the value of the capacitance is printed on its body thus you have no problem in using a digital capacitance meter to measure it. For Non polarity capacitors, it depends on the manufacturers to see if they wanted to calculate and printed the value for you. Ever come across non polarity capacitor that have the value of 102, 223, 684, 0.001, 0.015 and etc? You may be confused if you do not know how to differentiate the value of the capacitors. 102 means 1 nanofarad and 0.001 uf is also 1 nano farad. It depends on how you look at the numbers. Practice with the help of a digital capacitance meter will make you perfect in identifying the different codes in non polarity capacitors.

Dear Mr. Yong
With the best regards.please say aboat voltage of some ceramic capacitors for example what means 2G or 2J? I know 2A means double A & A means (equal 50 volts) & 2A means work voltage of ceramic capacitor is 100 volts no more. The color of this capacitor is Green. The color of 2G is blue. Please say 2G is what voltage (work) & introduce a site for explain work voltage of ceramic capacitors. Thank you
