Dear Jestine Yong I am an electronics repair technician for over 25 years and at the same time I carry out the activity of Electrician in Italy.
By this I mean that the various courses that you do not even valid in three days can make a person have a technician. It takes years and years of experience to get a good grounding in electronic repairs.
Then I ask myself a question. But still need to devote time to the electronic repairs when the industry is in sharp decline, where all prefer to buy a new appliance repair azzicchè because it should cost?. Perhaps learn a hobby can still have a senzo but waste the time to learn how to repair lcd monitor RCT but also and really a waste of time. This sector now, in my opinion has no future.
What do you think Mr. Young?
Here in Italy the electronic repair technician does not work is an unemployed had
change jobs to continue to live and bring the money home to his family sfamafre,
Sorry for the length of this post but I wrote it because I want an honest opinion from her, she has to go beyond self-interest and economic
    has relentlessly about it.
    greetings

      HI Antonio,

Thanks for the comment. You are right 3 days would not make them a professional electronics repairer. There are many purpose why they want to attend such course:

      Improve their troubleshooting technique
      to know more about electronics
      as a hobby
to start the basic course and take the advanced course later
      and etc

At the end of the course I always encourage my students to be in contact with me so that I can personally guide and give support to them thus they are not left alone. Just yesterday one of my students brought in a 42" lcd tv to ask me to guide him on how to troubleshoot it. This is the service that I'm providing and if they are hardworking and willing to learn and invest in meters, I don't see why they could not become a good repairer in a very short time.

About the job- You are right the repair tech is getting lesser most probably due to less profits in the repair trade. But electronics repair is not limit to consumers electronics repair. There are:

      industrial electronics
      medical electronics
      automotive electronics
      robotic electronics
      beauty equipment electronics
      cctv/alarm electronics
      car parking electronics
      house building electronics
      etc.
