Defeat DP Rechargeable Table Fan Repaired

This rechargeable fan was brought to me by a first time customer introduced by her hair dresser with complaints of usb charging port failing. When i examined the port, inner part has rusted, so there is need to change it. This device is unique in the sense that the charging port is separated from mainboard circuit.

So i did change both the port and the two li-ion batteries because they are weak, then tested ok, in which i delivered to customer. Few days later she came back with the fan with same complaint.

This time the (+/-) pins and underneath part of usb and its solder pad on board had ripped off board.So there is no way another usb can be solder solidly on the small board.

So since i have a scrab 5v li-ion 18650 modules, i did cut off the usb charging port area with arch saw from the scrab, shape it to fit into place of original damaged one, screw it into right place, soldered +/- wires to appropriate pads and connect charging adapter to it, which started charging well.

l did not charge customer for this second repair.

The point is some persons make mistake when wanting to charge their devices, when they want to fix male to female usb, they are not mindful of the shape which usually causes damage. At times i do educate my customers on this. Well, this is the finished repaired work….Viola!

Good thing that the new symmetrical shaped USB-C connector prevents users from plugging in the connector the wrong way. Probably until someone re-invents a completely round USB connector? (lol)

Good Fix! Imoudu,
External Charging connectors are also available with two wires to fix these types of Devices.

customers alway rip off charging ports and in the process they rip off the traces and that where the problem lies. I see that lot on PS4 and PS5 controllers and also blue tooth speakers. I fix the problem for the customer and once again he comes back with the same exact problem due to the fact that the customer is rough when dealing with such senstive ports. thanks for sharing and have a blessed day
