Facial Sauna Steamer Repaired
Symptom: Unit turning ON but water is not getting Hot.
Note: This type of heater elements are always on Live AC Current when it Switched “ON”. Never try to touch the water you will get electric shock.
If you want to check first unplugs it from Mains socket. My first doubt is heating element. Because when I powered it “ON”….. Indicator Light in the switch glows. I.e. power cord is Ok. Now I have opened the unit for further diagnosis.
I have checked heater element points for some reading in ohm using Multimeter, but I did not get any reading. So suspected heat element is BAD……..for confirming. From the Top side I removed one Bakelite cover and I found metal strip like thing inside.
I have removed one screw and found just two metal strips and one insulator in between plates.
That is why I am not getting any reading on multimeter while tested because this is not a heating coil.
Here in this unit plates get hot because electricity is passing electrical current directly through the water with contact of plates hence No heating coil are used (Theory Called as Joule Heating).
Now further what??…… Checked Power Cord found Ok, while toggling On/off Switch indicator light turns ON and OFF respectively so where is problem??……….
Have you seen 2nd Photo with on /off switch wiring ……one terminal of switch is not connected any where……is that Fault..???? No this is a complete circuit. Let me explain you how it works.
On / off switch Empty terminal is connected internally to Neon Indicator Lamp.
For further diagnosis looks what I found……….
When putting power switch in “ON” position one terminal pair showing continuity and other pair showing “open Circuit” that means it does not make contact to respected terminal and current is not passing through . Concluded Switch is faulty. (Neon lamp is Light up because it complete the Circuit before faulty location ).
I have replaced the new switch. Here I am not able to arrange switch with indicator lamp hence I have connected neon lamp separately…..
Tested the unit after pouring water and it works perfect.
