Headphone Repaired
A customer brought this headphone to me; problem is one channel of the headphone is not working. After connecting this headphone to my PC I played songs to confirm the problem and I have found the same problem, there was no sound from one ear piece. I have started the fault-finding by checking the unit for any physical damage and everything seems to be ok from outside.
I opened the unit by removing 3 screws and pull the cover gently. As expected I saw one of the wires came out from the small circuit board.
Now with help of magnifying glass I have to find out where this cable is belong to ; luckily it is visible on solder joint where this wired. I have also found some other dry joints on the board too and resoldered all the points. After that I connected the Headphone to my PC for testing and yes it was working now.

It is always good idea to open the device or casing to check what is
the problem because it usually looks ok on the outside.
Sometimes to check a faulty headphone, I use a 1.5V AA size battery and
connect positive to one side of headphone jack and the negative to other side of headphone jack to check for static noise to confirm continuity.
Thanks for well written article Yogesh.
