Intermittent In Two LG LCD Monitors Repaired
These two monitors were brought to me from a faraway distance, by one of my close friends with the complaint that the monitors are intermittent and in one, the colour changed from red, blue to green intermittently.
After doing a general clean up, I checked the Adapter first.
I opened the Adapter and found a lot of dry solder on the board. Hence did a thorough dry solder patch up and also replaced the electrolytic capacitors in it. Then when I powered it up, it was steady and showing output voltage perfectly.
After having got the desired result, I connected the adapter to the monitor, which is reported to be showing RGB intermittently. Observed the case. Then disconnected and opened the monitor. Saw a few dry solders, which I patched up. Also replaced the electrolytic capacitors in it. Then when I switched it on and left it for a few hours, it was steady.
Even the other monitor was working perfectly and perhaps the problem was only in the adapter, which I have now solved.
The picture of the defective components is also added below:
The net result of this repair work was also very satisfactory and I allowed it to jump into the collection bag unhesitatingly.

Opening up these modern monitors is often the hardest part. Which mostly starts by carefully removing the outside frontcover with force without breaking the plastic case or the glass screen under it. But I guess it was a too easy job why you took two of them simulteneously in one go! (lol).

Parasuraman S, what special tools do you mean? I could use one for myself, Sir. I've just started learning repair from the articles which you and others and Mr. Yong are sharing. They are very important to read and learn from. Thank you.

Well Done! Sir
Albert you are right Plastic gets degraded over long period of time & it gets broken easily when giving pressure for opening.

Many thanks Yogesh! The plastic gets dry over a period of time and becomes brittle. It sometimes develops crack by itself.
