One of my customers given me Logitech mice stating left Key (Mostly we use for double click) is lost its spring effect & some time works & some time not.

I found he has emotional connection with the mice because he is using it since the last 10 years.

I opened the mice, as I am sure about switch needs to be replaced. I doubt that I am having this type of switches in my salvage box.

Initially I decided to exchange left switch with Middle Pin (Middle switch which is in contact with scroll wheel mechanism it is rarely used in day to day use).

Given option to the customer, but he wants the device in perfect condition with all the options working. So luckily I found some salvaged switches of different mice.

So desoldered the bad switch.

I checked the difference of spring effect in both the switches & after confirming good effect I re-assembled the Mice for the testing.

After assembling I checked working of the mice by connecting it on my PC, it works perfect like new. I handover the mice to the customer to check. He checked and just smiled with expression of thanks!

Note: If you are in repair field try to salvage parts as much as possible (with permission of your superior at your work place or at home) will definitely help you in your need.

After all those years of use the customer may be happy that it was only a bad switch and not the 4 or 5 wire cable that started to fail!

I like Kailh switches that are good for 80 million clicks and replace switches and even cables to keep a favored mouse running.

This seems to be a Logitech issue these days. I'm a fan of Logitech's M575 trackball and have had to make this same repair several times after far less than 10 years in operation. Fortunately pulling a switch from another mouse has saved the day and kept my beloved trackball out of the recycling bin.
